Indian Recipe: Rajma Masala

Rajma Masala is a indian Curry made with kidney beans. Delicious and fits perfect with rice.

  • 1 cup Kidney Beans (soaked for at least 8 hours)
  • 2 Tomatoes chopped
  • 2 Onions chopped
  • 2 tbsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • about 5 cups of water


  1. Boil the Beans in about 4 cups of Water until they are soft. For about 60 minutes or longer. Put the Beans with the Liquid aside
  2. Put the Tomatoes into a blender and grind into a paste
  3. Heat 3 tbsp Oil on a low flame and fry the Omions for 3 minutes
  4. Add Ginger-Garlic Paste and fry for 1-2 minutes
  5. Add Chili, Cumin and Coriander Powder and fry for another 1-2 minutes
  6. Add the Tomato Paste and fry for about 3 minutes until the Oil leaves the sides
  7. Add the cooked Kidney Beans with the Liquid, Salt and about 1 cup of water. Let its simmer covered for 20 minutes
  8. Mash the Beans a bit and add Garam Masala
